Craig Leon is a contemporary composer, arranger, orchestrator and record producer. He has been working in electronic music since the mid 1970s. In 2014 he rereleased New re workings of his seminal 1981 albums 'Nommos' and 'Visiting' on vinyl through the RVNG Intl. label as 'The Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music vol. 1' and on CD on Atlas Aparte/Harmonia Mundi as 'Early Electronic Works'.
He has been performing both works in Europe and the U.S. since the album releases . Venues have included CTM (Berlin).Unsound (Krakow,Poland), Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), Moogfest (US) and Le Poisson Rouge ( New York .US).
In addition Leon compositions have appeared in numerous film and television soundtracks including US PBS TV 'Quest Beyond the Stars', Jackie Chanâ€™ 'Karate Kid', 'Ladies In Lavender', Ghost River (La Vie Promise), and Orbit: Journey to the Moon (Discovery Channel US) which celebrated the Anniversary of the first Apollo Moon landing..
His classical recording compositions, arrangements and productions have featured many of the leading artists in the genre including Luciano Pavarotti, Andreas Scholl, The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, The London Symphony Orchestra, The London Chamber Orchestra, Lang Lang, The Dresden Staatskapelle Orchestra, Sinfoniettta Cracovia, Elysium (Sequentia), The Vienna RSO, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Joshua Bell and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and James Galway amongst many others.
Leon has also worked through the years as a producer of adventurous, boundary stretching pop and experimental rock artists. He is responsible for the production and nurturing of many cutting edge recording artists in a career spanning over 150 album projects which include The Ramones, Suicide, Front 242, Cobalt 60, Blondie, The Fall & Richard Hell & the Voidoids.
Craig is currently supervising the 40th Anniversary release of the Ramones first album which he produced and is preparing a new electronic/orchestral album for release in the fall of 2016.
